Key information for the year
Class information for parents – Nursery/Pre-school
Main Autumn term topics
Pirate Life, Traditional Tales, Growing and Festivals. This term will be very much focused on settling in and getting to know their surroundings. They will work on making new friends, becoming more confident and learning to play alongside their peers. On the 29th November we will be inviting parents to come to our “Small World Workshop”, where you get to stay and play! This will be from morning drop off 8:55- 10:00. We will be asking parents/carers to help us in bringing in items for some small world tables (Jungle, Under the Sea, Farm, and DINOSAURS!) If you have any ideas that you think may help please come and see myself or Rodney!
Main Spring term topics
Julia Donaldson stories, Sign language (What The Jackdaw Saw) and non-fiction books. We LOVE Julia Donaldson books, so will be looking at many of them throughout this term. One of my personal favourites is What the Jackdaw Saw. As we start to become more familiar with our sounds, we will start to learn how to sign the letters of the alphabet!
The whole school will be introduced to a LifeSavers scheme of work and savings club that educates children and families about money management. So, we will be inviting parents/carers for another drop in session, a “Real Maths Day!” we did this last year and it was SUCH A HIT with parents/carers and children alike! We all learnt about the importance of money, we worked in order to get our wages, and had the opportunity to spend it on a variety of stalls and shops! These included: a bakery, a car wash, a travel agents, and a face painting stall!
Main Summer term topics
Under the sea, Fairy tales, and space. We will be reading some fantastic books over the summer term, we will be learning about pirates, boats, and sea animals! We will be covering some of our favourite fairy tales, and also learning about space! We will learn about our solar system, the planets surrounding Earth, and discussing how to help keep our planet safe by recycling!
If your child has medicine to take during the school day, this should be handed to Charlotte or Rodney, who will administer it at the appropriate times.
Drop off / pick up
Please let us know if there are any changes to who is picking up your child. The best way to do this to either informing staff at drop-off, or contacting the school office (02088523151 or firstname.lastname@example.org ) who will pass the message on to the teacher.
Please note that birthday cakes, sweets etc. are not permitted but we have a ‘birthday hat’ and song for your child on their special day!
